WAS’ Wounded Warrior Program
(Winter , Summer , Special Activities )
A growing year-round effort supporting injured military heroes coping with the effects of war, by utilizing winter and summer sporting activities, special events, and confidence building/ mentoring activities.
Since 2005, this multifaceted program within WAS has assisted more than 150Wounded Warriors (plus grateful family members).
Supported by Disabled Sports USA, the Wounded Warrior Project (Wounded Warrior Disabled Sport Project) Walter Reed Army Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Barracks at Camp Lejeune, the Fort Eustis Wounded Warrior Transition Unit, the Martinsburg West Virginia and the Hampton Roads Virginia Veterans Affairs Hospitals, the USO, the Bama Works Fund of the David Mathews Band of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Boeing Corporation, and hundreds of individuals and members of VFWs and American Legions.
Wintergreen Resort is the headquarters for Wintergreen Adaptive Sports.
