WAS' Wounded Warrior Summer Boating Program
  WW Boating & Kayaking: Welcome all injured military! Wintergreen Adaptive Sports held its 4th annual Wounded Warrior Boating Weekend on August 7 & 8 2010.WAS Worked closely with the Wounded Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Eustis, the Hampton Roads VA Hospital, and individual warriors to make this weekend a reality. Participants learned to canoe and/or kayak on Lake Monocan at Wintergreen Resort on Saturday. On Sunday we paddled down the James River and even got to experience some gentle whitewater. We had a delicious cookout on Saturday night (thank you, Tommy Ashley) and the warriors were lodged and fed all of their meals at no cost to anyone. Plans for next summer's events are already in the works. Volunteers will be needed to help with food and lodging. Come join the fun!
